Going through a breakup, especially with a narcissist, can be emotionally challenging and physically and emotionally draining, but if you're getting out of one you know how difficult life has been. During this difficult time, essential oils can offer a natural and soothing way to support your emotional well-being and aid in your healing journey. In this blog post, we'll explore the 10 best essential oils to help you navigate the challenges of a breakup with a narcissist, how they can assist in healing, and various ways to use them effectively.

  1. Lavender Oil: Lavender oil is renowned for its calming and balancing properties. It can help ease feelings of anxiety, stress, and sadness that often accompany a breakup. Diffuse lavender oil in your living space or mix a few drops with a carrier oil and apply it to your pulse points. I also like to make a room or bed linen spray with a spray bottle, water and 10 drops of lavender, add a pinch of Himalayan salt to the mix to help the oil bind to the water and when you're ready for bed shake up the bottle and spray some on your pillow and around the room. It will help soothe all the worries of the day, relax your body and help you get the much needed rest you deserve.

Frankincense Oil: Frankincense oil is known for its grounding and centering effects. It can promote emotional healing, reduce feelings of despair, and encourage a sense of inner strength. Add a few drops to your bath or use it in a meditation practice. Its also a great oil to help heal heart break, mix some with a carrier oil and place it over your heart to help strengthen and ground you.

Bergamot Oil: Bergamot oil is uplifting and refreshing. It can help alleviate feelings of sadness, boost your mood, and restore emotional balance. Blend bergamot oil with a carrier oil and use it for a calming massage or inhale its aroma directly from the bottle.

Rose Oil: Rose oil is often associated with love and compassion. It can assist in healing emotional wounds, promoting self-love, and enhancing feelings of self-worth. Dilute rose oil with a carrier oil and apply it to your heart area.

Chamomile Oil: Chamomile oil is known for its calming and soothing effects on the mind and emotions. It can help reduce irritability, ease tension, and encourage relaxation. Diffuse chamomile oil in your bedroom for a peaceful atmosphere.

Ylang Ylang Oil: Ylang ylang oil is uplifting and can help boost your mood. It's also recognized for its ability to reduce feelings of anger, frustration, and anxiety. Mix ylang ylang oil with a carrier oil and use it for a comforting self-massage.

Geranium Oil: Geranium oil has a balancing and harmonizing aroma. It can help alleviate mood swings, promote emotional stability, and provide a sense of comfort during turbulent times. Add a few drops to a warm bath or use it in a room spray.

Sandalwood Oil: Sandalwood oil is grounding and calming. It can help you find inner peace, reduce feelings of negativity, and enhance your connection with yourself. Use sandalwood oil in a diffuser or mix it with a carrier oil for a soothing massage.

Clary Sage Oil: Clary sage oil has properties that can help reduce stress and anxiety. It can also promote clarity of mind and support emotional resilience. Inhale clary sage oil directly from the bottle or add a few drops to a tissue and place it under your pillow.

Neroli Oil: Neroli oil is known for its uplifting and soothing aroma. It can help ease feelings of grief, anxiety, and sadness. Mix neroli oil with a carrier oil and use it for a calming self-massage or apply it to your wrists.

A bonus oil I enjoyed using for my broken heart was Doterra's Forgive blend. It's a roller bottle ready to use blend of essential oils including Spruce, Bergamot, Juniper Berry, and Myrrh oils, it has a woodsy and warm aroma & helps remind us to forgive ourselves and take a clarify deep breath, releasing all those negative feelings. It's great to use it on your pulse points to create an inspiring and grounding atmosphere while journaling, meditating, or reciting affirmations of patience, peace, joy, and contentment.

I also used Aromatouch blend to self massage my hands and forearms, you don't realize how much tension we hold in our bodies and how we can take a moment to help heal by using the power of touch to release trapped feelings. I also enjoy massaging my children's hands and feet with essential oils and creating that close bond while soothing them. Aromatouch is a blend of Cypress, Peppermint, Marjoram, Basil, Grapefruit, and Lavender essential oils, its a wonderfully soothing blend ready to help lift the worries of the world off your shoulders.

During a breakup with a narcissist, your emotional well-being and self care is of utmost importance. Essential oils can be powerful allies in your healing journey, offering comfort, support, and a sense of renewal. Whether you choose to use these oils through aromatherapy, massages, or baths, their gentle and natural properties can provide solace as you navigate through this challenging time. Remember that self-care, professional support, and time for healing are all essential components of your journey towards emotional recovery. As I recover I regularly speak with a psychotherapist, take time to be with friends & go for regular massages where I ask my massage therapist to use essential oils during my massage. I listen to soothing music and spend time in the sunshine, these things all remind me of the beauty in the world and the power of not only nature but in human connection. I wish you all the best on your healing journey, I hope you'll stick around for my next post by joining the village :)

Until then & with Love,

Trisha
